Texas Uniform Admissions Policy

Top 10% Rule

Top 25% Admission

Students who graduate in the top 10% of their class at a recognized public or private high school in Texas (or one operated by the U.S. Department of Defense) may qualify for automatic admission to public universities* in Texas through the Top 10% Rule. 

Some public universities will automatically accept students who graduate in the top 25% of their class. Others require specific ACT or SAT scores in addition to graduating in the top 25%.

Other requirements:

  • Be a Texas resident or eligible for resident tuition. 

  • All required documents must be received by the institution by the application deadline

  • Enroll in college no more than two years after graduating from high school
